Leonard M. Gevarter

Leonard M. Gevarter, 88, of Marlboro died Dec. 8, 2010. He was born and raised in Queens.

Dr. Gevarter practiced optometry for 42 years at Bamberger’s in Newark.

He graduated from the City College of New York and the Pennsylvania School of Optometry.

He served during World War II in the Army Medical Corps.

He was a longtime member of Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy; his daughter, Hillary; two sons, Steven and Evan; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Dec. 12 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish National Fund.
