Leonard B. Zucker

Leonard B. Zucker, 85, a resident of Springfield for 54 years, died Aug. 16, 2018. Born in Newark, he grew up in Irvington.

Mr. Zucker was a senior partner with the law firm of Zucker Goldberg & Ackerman for 56 years.

He graduated from Cornell University and Columbia Law School.

He served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

He was very involved with the Township of Springfield as municipal judge, township attorney, attorney for the Rent Leveling Board, and Library Board. He was a past president of the Springfield Rotary Club and vice president of both the Northern New Jersey Leukemia Society and Cerebral Palsy League. He was a board member of the Public Affairs Lecture Series (PALS) for Fairleigh Dickinson University.

He was a member of Temple Sha’arey Shalom in Springfield for 47 years, past president of the brotherhood, and a former board of trustees member. He was also a longtime member of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG) of Northern New Jersey.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leslie (Amster); his daughter, Liz (Adam) Barnett; two sons, John (Meg) and Matthew (Brian Fuhr); a sister, Marcia Bright; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 19 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Sha’arey Shalom.
