Lawrence Gelber
Lawrence V. Gelber of Livingston died Nov. 4, 2017. Born in New York City, he spent his childhood in Colonia.
He graduated as valedictorian from Colonia High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and his juris doctorate from New York University Law School. He was a partner at the law firm Schulte, Roth, & Zabel in New York City, where he worked as a bankruptcy
attorney.
Mr. Gelber was inducted as a fellow in the 25th class of the American Bankruptcy College, and has been recognized by the Legal 500 United States and New York Lawyers as a leader in his field.
He was an avid Mets and Giants fan and loved to ride his motorcycle with the Horseneck Motorcycle Riding Club of Livingston.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna; daughters Liann, Hannah, and Sara; and his parents Morris and Yetta Gelber.
The funeral was held Nov. 7 at the Bernheim Apter Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mount Pleasant Animal Shelter in East Hanover.
