Klara Enis
Klara Enis, 95, of Millburn died July 22, 2017. Born in Poland, she escaped the country after her family was taken by the Nazis and worked as a nanny for the children of an SS officer, living in Russia before eventually escaping to the United States. She then lived in Springfield and Millburn for over 50 years.
Mrs. Enis was retired from the Union Center National Bank, where she worked as a teller and, eventually, head teller, retiring about 30 years ago.
She and her late husband, Salo, were longtime members of Temple Sha’arey Shalom of Springfield, where she served as past sisterhood president. She was a longtime member of Springfield Hadassah and volunteered as a challenger at the municipal voting polls in Springfield for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Nora (Neal) Patrone of Millburn, and three grandchildren.
Services were held July 25 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Maplewood.
