Kevin Heller
Kevin Heller, 50, of Clark died Nov. 15, 2010. Born in Newark, he resided in Hillside before moving to Clark in 1996.
Mr. Heller was a New Jersey certified teacher of fine arts for grades K-12. He worked at the Newark Museum for 25 years, serving in his last position as the assistant director of education for instructional services. He also served as adjunct professor for early childhood education/literacy at Montclair State University.
His artworks may be found in both public and private collections.
After graduating from Hillside High School in 1978, he attended Kean University in Union, earning a BA in Visual Communication in 1982 and a MA in Fine Arts Education in 1985.
He was a member of Congregation B’nai Ahavath Shalom, Union; the American Association of Museums; and the National Rifle Association.
Predeceased by his parents, Seymour and Ileen, he is survived by his wife, Philicia (Lehman); three brothers, Arthur of Union, Richard of Trinity, Fla., and Marc of Edison; his stepmother, Lou Ann Heller of Clearwater, Fla.; his uncle, Gerald Heller of Irvington; seven nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew.
Services were held Nov. 17 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Newark Museum.
