Kate Klein

Kate Klein (Belov), 91, of South Orange died Aug. 10, 2013. She was born in Romania and immigrated as an infant with her parents to America, growing up in Newark. She moved to South Orange in 1953.

Mrs. Klein graduated from New Jersey State Teachers College (Kean College).

She was one of the earliest members of Congregation Beth El, South Orange, gifting a Torah to the synagogue and refurbishing the Lieberman Chapel in memory of Rabbi Theodore Friedman. She and her mother, Shirley Belov, also oversaw the Women’s Club rummage sale for many years.

Predeceased by her husband, Mathew, she is survived by two daughters, Miriam and Joanne; her son, Harvey; and six grandchildren.

Services were held Aug. 12 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Hadassah Medical Center, Jerusalem.
