Karl Asch

Karl Asch, 84, of Delray Beach, Fla., died Jan. 28, 2014. He grew up in Roselle and Linden.

Mr. Asch was a trial attorney for over 40 years. He filed the first lawsuit for asbestos exposure victims in New Jersey and was the attorney who discovered the Sumner Simpson documents, information that proved the asbestos manufacturers knew of the hazards to which workers were exposed. From 1970 to 1975, he served as Union County’s first full-time prosecutor.

He attended Columbia University and its Law School.

He is survived by his daughter, Meredith of Elkins Park, Pa.; a brother, Roger of Somerset; and a grandson.

Services were held Jan. 30 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
