June “Juney” Robins Kent, 86, of Palm Beach, Fla., died June 29, 2011. She was born and raised in Newark and moved to Palm Beach 10 years ago.
Mrs. Kent worked as a home economics teacher at Maplewood Middle School and Columbia High School for 30 years.
She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, where she was a majorette. She studied art and design at the Pratt Institute of Art in New York and completed her college degree at Montclair State College after raising her children.
She was a member and past president of the Ruth Papier Nephrosis Foundation, where she spearheaded bringing the first renal dialysis machine to St. Barnabas Medical Center.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Albert Allen; two sons, Jeffrey and Andrew; a daughter, Cathy Kent Fein; and three grandchildren.
Services were held July 3 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
