Julius B. Sprachner
Julius B. Sprachner, 87, of Lakewood died March 28, 2011. Born in New York City, he was raised in Brooklyn and lived in Lakewood for 43 years.
Mr. Sprachner spent two years at the National Farm School in Doylestown, Pa., before being called for service in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and enrolled at the University of Illinois, where he received a BS degree in Animal Husbandry in 1949.
Upon the collapse of the poultry industry, he transferred his sales abilities to newspapers, joining a start-up paper in Freehold and holding positions as sales manager, major accounts manager, vice president, and assistant publisher.
Predeceased by his wife, Sylvia; and his son, David, he is survived by his daughter, Ruth Gordon of Morganville; a sister, Florence Benson of California; and two grandchildren.
Services were held March 29 with arrangements by Belkoff Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Lakewood. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
