Jules Resnick

Jules Resnick, 88, of Asheville, NC, died Sept. 23, 2012. He retired permanently in Asheville around 1990 but split time in New Jersey, Florida, and North Carolina in the years leading up to his retirement.

Mr. Resnick owned and operated an independent pharmacy for many years in Irvington. In the mid 1960s, when larger drugstore chains became prominent, he partnered with 50 of his friends while working at Camp Drugs to start TABARD, a pharmaceutical co-operative. He was also active in the Pharmaceutical Fraternity, AZO (Epsilon chapter).

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps and was stationed in Panama during World War II. He served as a 1st Lieutenant and co-pilot of B-24s.

In Asheville, he was active with the JCC and the College for Seniors.

Predeceased in 2003 by his wife of 59 years, Cecelia, he is survived by two sons, Robert A. of Asheville and Steven A. of Winsted, Conn; his companion, Phyllis Scher; and a sister-in-law, Edith Privot of Rockville, Md.

Services were held Sept. 25 with arrangements by Morris Funeral Home, Asheville. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
