Judy (Appel) Rubin, 87, of Rahway died Dec. 1, 2013. She was born in Jersey City, where she lived for 25 years before moving to Rahway 61 years ago.
Mrs. Rubin taught in an elementary school in New York City’s Greenwich Village for three years.
She graduated from New York University with a degree in elementary education.
She was a member of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah in Clark, formerly Temple Beth Torah in Rahway. A member and officer of Beth Torah’s sisterhood, she was also editor of the temple’s bulletin and a Hadassah life member.
She was a recipient of the United Jewish Appeal Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Rahway/Linden Campaign.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Alan L.; two daughters, Laurie Rubin and Mindy (Ed) Leibowitz; and two grandsons.
Services were held Dec. 2 with arrangements by Lehrer-Gibilisco Funeral Home, Rahway.
