Joyce Tischler

Joyce Tischler, 91, of Westfield died Nov. 5, 2011. Born in New York City, she had resided in Westfield since 1953.

Mrs. Tischler was an avid painter and taught ceramics for over 50 years.

She was past president of the sisterhood, historian, and craft show committee member of Temple Emanu-El in Westfield. A recipient of the Women of Valor Award (Atlantic District), she was a member of Hadassah and the National Council of Jewish Women.

She was an avid collector of Wedgwood and Rookwood pottery.

Predeceased by her husbands, Mel Grabel and Louis Tischler, she is survived by two sons, Keith Grabel of Scotch Plains and Gary Grabel of Beverly Hills, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 8 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Joyce Tischler Flower and Oneg Fund, with checks made payable to Temple Emanu-El.
