Josh Nelson to ‘rock Shabbat’ at TRT
Josh Nelson, popular performer and composer of Jewish music, will bring his songs of hope, unity, and spirituality to “Rock Shabbat” at Temple Rodeph Torah in Marlboro on Sunday, April 17, at 5 p.m.
TRT’s Rock Shabbat service combines traditional Friday night songs with original rock and roll arrangements. “Having Josh with us for this special event is sure to make it a truly energizing and moving occasion,” said Cantor Joanna Alexander.
A classically trained musician equally versed in rock, jazz, and world music, Nelson is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter whose work is integrated into the repertoire of congregations, camps, and communities around the world.
Nelson is the music director for the Union for Reform Judaism Biennial Convention, on faculty for the Hava Nashira Music Institute, and a musical artist-in-residence for the JCC Maccabi Artsfest. He has performed over 1,000 shows in venues across the globe.
Concertgoers will have an opportunity to meet Nelson. Concert proceeds will help continue the Rock Shabbat program.
Tickets cost $18, $5 for children under 18, free for five and under. Concert packages, including T-shirts, water bottles, and CDs are available. Visit concert.trt.org or call 732-308-0055.
