Joseph Schilansky
Joseph Schilansky, 97, of East Brunswick died July 21, 2011. He was born in Bridgeport, Conn.
Mr. Schilansky worked as an independent taxi and limousine driver, and was the owner of Medallion Taxi in New York City before retiring in the ’80s. He was also the private driver for the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a longtime member of Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick, where he sang in many choirs. He was also a member of the Laurel Conquer Lodge in New York.
Predeceased by his wife, Ada Y. (Friedman), in 2003, he is survived by a son, Mark of Catskill, NY; a daughter, Barbara Bergman of East Brunswick; five grandchildren; and three great-grandsons.
Services were held July 24 with arrangements by Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick.
