Joseph Markowitz

Joseph Markowitz, 89, of Summit died Dec. 23, 2012. Born and raised in Brooklyn, he lived in Warren from 1960 to 2004 before moving to Summit eight years ago.

Mr. Markowitz was a vice president of finance for Art Metal, USA until his retirement in 1987.

He attended the City College of New York.

When his son was young, he was a Boy Scout troop leader at the Warren Presbyterian Church in Warren.

He was most recently a member of Congregation Beth Israel, Scotch Plains. Prior to the synagogues merging, he was a member of Temple Beth El, Plainfield, where he had served as president.

Predeceased by his wife, Lenore Rose, and a daughter, Leslie Ann Markowitz Kadin in 1991, he is survived by his son, Alan Jeffrey (Colleen); a daughter, Marla Markowitz (John) Bace; and a granddaughter.

Services were held Dec. 24 with arrangements by Higgins Home for Funerals, Watchung.
