Joseph J. Wigdor
Joseph J. Wigdor, 73, of Bayonne died April 23, 2011.
Mr. Wigdor was the owner of the family business, Wigdor’s Diamond Jewelers, a Bayonne landmark for 107 years. He was the former president of the NJ Jewelers Association.
He graduated from Rider University and served in the Army reserves as a mess sergeant.
For 37 years, he presented the Miss New Jersey winner with a 14-karat-gold, NJ-shaped pendant necklace and he also presented the “Louis and Sara Wigdor Memorial Award” to outstanding Bayonne high school graduates. He served as an appraiser for the Bayonne Historical Society.
He was active in Temple Emanu-El, Temple Beth Am, and Congregation Ohav Zedek, all of Bayonne. He served as president of the Zionist Organization of America.
Predeceased by his wife, Diane, he is survived by his daughter, Rachel Wigdor Flusser of Livingston; two sisters, Judy Krivit and Eileen Hinkes; and two grandchildren.
Services were held April 24 with arrangements by Gutterman Brothers, Bayonne. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Emanuel of Bayonne or the American Cancer Society.
