Joseph Fishman

Joseph Fishman, 84, of Asbury Park died June 7, 2011. Born in Brooklyn, he lived for more than 80 years in Asbury Park.

Mr. Fishman was a science teacher at Neptune High School and was a professor of biology at Monmouth University and Brookdale Community College. After retiring, he served as a volunteer lecturer at the Cardiac Rehab Center at the Jersey Shore Medical Center.

He majored in biology at Union University and Yale University.

He served in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lena; his daughter, Beth Leonard; two sons, Michael and Robert; and a granddaughter.

Services were held June 10 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
