Jonathan Bitman
Jonathan H. Bitman, 52, of Little Silver died Sept. 4, 2012. Born in Newark, he was raised in Millburn and resided in Monmouth County for the past 28 years and in Little Silver for 18.
Mr. Bitman was a 20-year employee of Eaton Corporation before joining his current employer, Charles B. Hembling and Son, Shrewsbury, as chief estimator in February 2005.
He was a Little Silver Boro Councilman from 2003 to 2012. As councilman, he was active on many committees, including the Little Silver Public Works; Fire, First Aid, and Newsletter; and Police and Emergency Preparedness. He also served as Planning Board chairman and as liaison to the Little Silver Cross Acceptance, Parker Homestead House, and the Capital Fund Project. He also played semi-pro football for the Jersey Oaks.
He attended Kean University, Union.
He volunteered with the New Jersey Special Olympics and played softball with the Little Silver Crocs.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dale Mirabelli Bitman; two daughters, Jordan and Cori; his mother, Sunny Lazerwitz Bitman; and three sisters, Carole Leone of South Orange, Harley Hanarahan of Manhattan, and Paige Ascher of Maplewood.
Services were held Sept. 8 with arrangements by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial contributions may be made to the NJ Special Olympics, 3 Princess Rd., Lawrenceville, NJ 08648 (www.sonj.org).
