Joel Fielo
Joel Fielo, 83, of Madison died June 2, 2016. Born in Newark, he grew up there and later in Hillside. He lived in Irvington, South Plainfield, and South Orange for 27 years before moving to Madison in 1989.
Mr. Fielo had worked as a financial executive for two major international financial trading companies. An expert in bankruptcy who served on national bankruptcy committees, he was a member of the National Association of Credit Management, the New York Credit and Financial Management Association, and the Foreign Credit Interchange Bureau.
He attended the Weequahic High School Annex in Newark and graduated from Hillside High School, where he had been editor of the school newspaper. He received a bachelor’s degree in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University. While in college he managed the baseball team and was also a fencer.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sandra B. (“Sandee”); two sons, Jeffrey (Edwina/“Kandy”) of Richmond, Va., and Eric of Madison; and a granddaughter.
Services were held June 5 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Chatham.
