Joel Duberstein
Joel L. Duberstein, 81, of West Orange died Nov. 6, 2018. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Bayonne, he lived in Short Hills prior to moving recently to West Orange.
Dr. Duberstein was a physician specializing in pulmonary and critical care, practicing primarily at Overlook Hospital, where he was the chief of the ICU. He started the Pulmonary and Allergy group practice in Summit and a private medical legal practice.
He was a graduate of Princeton University and Columbia Medical School.
He served in the Army as a major during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judith; two children, Laura Lindberg (Alan Levine) and Amy Duberstein (Nancy Mahl); and four grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 11 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Overlook Foundation, Summit.
