Joan Newman

Joan Rocker Newman, 86, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died Jan. 1, 2014. Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Edison before moving to Boynton Beach 30 years ago.

A noted sculptor, Mrs. Newman was represented by galleries in New York and Florida and had sales throughout the world.

An avid golfer, she was a member of Hunter’s Run in Boynton Beach and Shackamaxon Country Club in Scotch Plains.

She was involved in many Jewish charities, including UJA and Hadassah.

Predeceased by her husbands, Robert Newman and William Rocker, she is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Bruce) Schonbraun and Carol (Kenneth) Rubin; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 5 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston.
