Jerome Rothstein

Jerome “Jerry” Rothstein, 87, of Livingston, died Oct. 24, 2013. He was born in Newark and moved to Livingston in 1956.

Mr. Rothstein worked in the insurance field as a salesman and spent many years after retirement working for the State Health Insurance Assistance Program as a volunteer to seniors in the community.

He attended Weequahic High School, Newark, and graduated from Upsala College.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was an active member of Temple Beth Shalom, Livingston, serving as the president for several years. More recently, he regularly attended Temple B’nai Abraham, Livingston.

Predeceased by his wife, Ada, he is survived by two daughters, Barbara Sandler and Sandra (Stephen) Markman; a sister, Blanche LaKind; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and his longtime companion, Edith Goldman.

Services were held Oct. 27 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple B’nai Abraham or the FMC St. Barnabas Dialysis Center, Livingston (ACC).
