Jeffrey Perkoff
Jeffrey D. Perkoff, 54, of Carbondale, Ill., died July 21, 2013. He was a native of Short Hills.
Mr. Perkoff graduated from Millburn High School and attended Yale University. During the mid-70s, he took a leave of absence from his studies at Yale and worked on restoring a 1929 Model A. While on leave he was involved in a car accident and hit by a drunk driver. In researching rehabilitation options, his father, Dr. Morton Perkoff, learned of the organization NeuroRestorative and Jeffrey moved to Carbondale in 1986 to continue his rehabilitation. He was able to regain many of his motor and physical skills and live an independent life.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Southern Illinois University and was an active member of the Carbondale Jewish community.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; three children, Ken, Jane, and Dennis; a sister, Susan Perkoff Bass of Washington, DC; and a brother, John of Millburn.
Services were held July 28 with arrangements by Crain Pleasant Grove-Murdale Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Brain Injury Association of New Jersey, 825 Georges Road, second floor, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
