Jeanne Major
Jeanne K. Major of Union died April 18, 2015. Born in Brooklyn, she moved to New Jersey in 1968 and had also been a resident of Point Pleasant and Roselle Park.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Major worked at Kean University for 22 years, serving as president of the Kean secretaries.
During the course of 20 years, she served the Union chapter of Jewish Women International (formerly B’nai B’rith Women) as president and director of programming as well as programming vice president for Hadassah. In 2014, she was the recipient of Hadassah’s Woman of Valor award.
For 20 years, she had conducted the Yiddish Vinkl program at the YM-YWHA of Union County in Union.
She was predeceased by her husband, Irving.
Services were held April 22 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Memorial Home, Union.
