JCC in Scotch Plains hosts summer entertainment

THE JCC OF Scotch Plains offers entertainment and lectures for adults at Congregation Beth Israel in Scotch Plains. Programs begin on Monday, July 3, and run Monday through Thursday mornings each week, followed by a catered kosher lunch. The series is open to the community.

Entertainment will include a tribute to Carole King, a revue of Broadway classics, a look at Joan Rivers’ life and career, and more. There will be lectures on situational awareness and tactics to avoid assault, the state of state politics, digestive health and awareness, and even a trip to the Scotch Plains library to learn about how libraries have evolved over the years.

Two authors will be visiting: Marisa Scheinfeld will share a photographic history of the Borscht Belt and Walter Shapiro will discuss his great uncle who was a vaudeville impresario during the run-up to World War II. The summer program concludes with the Artful Easel, a painting workshop where everyone leaves with an original painting.
