Jay Doros

Jay Ronald Doros, 91, of Springfield died May 4, 2018.

Mr. Doros became the youngest Certified Public Accountant in the history of New Jersey. After practicing a few years as a CPA, he decided he wanted a more physically active profession, and purchased Star Tobacco Company in 1957. He worked with his partner, William Schuler, and continued to work four days a week until just prior to his death.

He graduated summa cum laude from New York University at the age of 18.

He was recognized as one of the world’s leading authorities on antique glass. He and his wife Micki studied and collected glass together for over 50 years, gave frequent lectures, and attended numerous symposiums. Their expertise in the field was recognized by Corning Museum of Glass, which elected them as museum fellows.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years; two daughters, Shari Syke of Maryland and Amy Doros of California; two sons, Paul of Montclair and Dennis; and five grandchildren.

Services were held May 6 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rakow Library at Corning Museum of Glass.
