Jay Bloom
Jay B. Bloom, 83, of Springfield died April 18, 2016. He was born in Newark.
Mr. Bloom, an attorney, practiced law in his own firm in Springfield for 30 years.
He attended Weequahic High School in Newark, Lafayette College, and Columbia Law School.
After his retirement, he became involved in volunteer work, assisting in building homes for the poor through the Brand New Day Foundation and volunteering for NESC. He also did pro-bono work.
He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ellen; two sons, Marc (Teresa) of Maryland and Joshua (Gary Sabock) of Jersey City; his daughter, Amy (Gregory) Mulford of Green Village; a brother, Stefan of East Hanover; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services were held April 20 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Center for Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076.
