Janice Belsky

Janice Belsky (Van Poznak) of Maplewood, originally of Newark, died Sept. 26, 2013.

Mrs. Belsky practiced for nearly four decades at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. She began her career as a surgical nurse and continued with the hospital’s Flo Okin Oncology Center, where she was involved with direct patient care and numerous cancer research projects and grants.

She graduated from Newark Beth Israel Hospital School of Nursing.

She is survived by her husband, Murray E.; two sons, David (Paula Breger) of West Newbury, Mass., and Joshua of New York City; her daughter, Susan Belsky of New York City; a brother, Marvin Van Poznak of Monroe Township; a sister, Judy Klein of Clearwater, Fla.; and a granddaughter.

Services were held Sept. 29 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Maplewood Library Foundation, 51 Baker St., Maplewood, NJ 07040; or Frederick B. Cohen MD Cancer Center at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, 201 Lyons Ave., Newark, NJ 07112.
