Janet Susswein

Janet Meltzer Susswein, 96, of Chula Vista, Calif., died Nov. 27, 2014. Born in Trenton, she was a former resident of Lawrenceville.

Mrs. Susswein was the principal financial analyst for the NJ Department of Education for 23 years before retiring.

She was a member of Adath Israel Congregation and B’nai B’rith Women, both of which honored her as Woman of the Year, and Hadassah. She served as a volunteer at Greenwood House and Mercer Medical Center.

Predeceased by her husband, Henry S., and two daughters, Myra Sommers and Sima Silverman, she is survived by a sister, Dorothy Robbins; six grandchildren, a son-in-law, Howard Sommers; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 28 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Adath Israel Congregation.
