Jacobo Fastag Katz
Jacobo “Jack” Fastag Katz of Hopewell Township died July 12, 2018. Born in Mexico City in 1964, he moved to the United States in 1988.
Mr. Katz worked his entire professional career (25 years) for David Michael & Company in Philadelphia, rising to the position of Senior Flavor Chemist. Professionally, he served as past president of the Society of Flavor Chemists, an organization devoted to the advancement of the field of flavor technology and related sciences. He was also an adjunct professor at Cornell and Drexel universities.
He earned his undergraduate degree in biochemical engineering from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional in Mexico City. He earned his master of science in 1991 from Cornell University.
He was a member of Mensa International and Origami USA. He was also a violinist and pianist.
Predeceased by his father, Mario Fastag, he is survived by his mother, Miriam Katz of Mexico City; his husband, Lee Bryant Rosenfield; two children, Ethan and Eliana Fastag Rosenfield; a sister, Monica Ponsky of Cleveland; and a brother, Alejandro (Alex) of Mexico City.
Services were held in Mexico City with arrangements by Garefino Funeral Home, Inc., Lambertville.
