Jack Sondike

Jack Sondike, 96, of Marlboro, formerly of Manalapan, died January 9, 2012. Born in Hartford, Conn., he spent his youth in Brooklyn and lived in Queens before moving to Manalapan for 33 years.

Mr. Sondike was an Assistant Chief of the New York City Buildings Department and headed up its Legal Bureau.

He graduated from Brooklyn College, from which he also earned post-baccalaureate credits.

He was an active member of the Pythians in Queens and was an associate of the Covered Bridge chapter of Hadassah.

His wife of 66 years, Lucille, died April 5, 2012. He is survived by two daughters, Ilene Karp of South Brunswick and Stephanie Margolies of Manalapan; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Jan. 10 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Foundation.
