Jack Abramson
Jack Abramson, 97, of Union died March 9, 2013. Born in Newark, he lived in North Arlington and Irvington before moving to Union in 1945.
Mr. Abramson was a business executive and engineer, having owned and managed the Interstate Ironworks Corporation in Hillside from 1935 to 1980. He also was part owner and manager of United Steel Deck from 1973 to 1985.
He earned a BS in civil engineering from the Newark College of Engineering.
He was a member of Kiwanis International, the Maplewood Country Club, and AISC.
Predeceased by his wife, Lillian (Schulter), he is survived by his son Stephen (Marilyn) of Short Hills; his daughter, Meryl Abramson of Totowa; a sister, Lillian Applebaum of Seattle; and four grandchildren.
Services were held March 10 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
