Israel Teitelbaum

Dr. Israel Teitelbaum, 86, of Marlboro died May 20, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, he lived in Palestine from the ages of three to 20, when he returned to New York and lived in Albany before moving to Marlboro in 2000.

Dr. Teitelbaum was a professor at Long Island University, Brooklyn, where he taught statistics and quantitative analysis before retiring. He was also an ordained rabbi, certified life underwriter, author, and artist.

Predeceased by a daughter, Arona “Ronnie” Trub, in 1988, and his wife, Florence Schiffman Teitelbaum, he is survived by a daughter, Deena Charnofsky of Matawan; two sisters, Yocheved Zoretzky and Devorah Nesher, both of Jerusalem; three grandchildren; a son-in-law, Jerry Trub, and his son.

Services were held May 23 with arrangements by Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Marfan Foundation, Port Washington, NY (www.marfan.org).
