Israel announces roster

The roster for the Israeli team for the World Baseball Classic qualifier has been announced.

Several members of the team have had Major League experience including Craig Breslow, Ike Davis, Cody Decker, Nate Freiman, Ryan Lavarnway, Jason Marquis, Josh Satin, and Josh Zeid

Satin, Zeid, and Charlie Cutler were also on the 2013 squad that lost out the chance to appear in the actual WBC with a 10-inning loss in their final game.

Players currently on Major League rosters are unable to play since the season is still in progress. LA Dodgers sophomore Joc Pederson was on the 2013 team, as well as Richard Bleier, who made his debut with the NY Yankees earlier this season.

The games will be held Sept. 22-25 at the Coney Island home of the NY Mets minor league affiliate, the Class-A Brooklyn Cyclones. The winners of the qualifiers advance to the World Baseball Classic which will be held in March 2017.
