Irving Kuntz
Irving Kuntz, 86, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Dec. 27, 2011. He was formerly of Linden and Westfield.
Dr. Kuntz had a 30-year career as research chemist at Esso, now Exxon, in Linden.
He received a PhD in chemistry in 1955 from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, now New York University.
He was the holder of over 30 U.S. patents and the author of over 30 technical publications.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and earned a Purple Heart during the Battle of the Bulge, Dec. 25, 1944.
He is survived by his wife, Pauli Salant-Kuntz; his daughter, Laura Kuntz of Westfield; his son, Jeffrey Saunders of Massachusetts; a sister, Nesha Schor; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 30 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to Bancroft (www.bancroft.org).
