Irving Kintish

Irving Kintish, 89, of Rockaway died March 9, 2012.

Mr. Kintish was retired from the U.S. Army’s Picatinny Arsenal, where he worked for over 40 years. His last position had him serving as project manager for mines, counter-mines, and demolitions.

A graduate of City College of New York and Brooklyn College, where he received his master’s degree, he worked on the Manhattan Project at Columbia University.

After enlisting in the Army, he was assigned to Los Alamos, where he worked on filtering mercury and separating isotopes for the development of the first atomic bomb.

He was a former secretary of the Rockaway Lions, and former post commander of Jewish War Veterans’ Wolfert-Levenson Post.

He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Victoria (“Vicky”); two sons, Brian and Roger; two daughters, Lisa and Marcie; and a grandson.

Services were held March 11 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Dover. Memorial contributions may be made to White Meadow Temple, Rockaway.
