Irving Goren, 79, of Edison died Sept. 8, 2018. Born in New York City, he grew up in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, and lived in Edison for the past 18 years.
Mr. Goren was an adult literacy volunteer in both New York and New Jersey for the last 35 years and taught basic guitar skills at the North Edison branch of the Edison Public Library.
He was a longtime member of Temple Emanu-El, Edison.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie Slade; and a sister- and brother-in-law, Leslie and Leonard Eng, and their children, David and Amy.
