Ira Merbaum

Ira Merbaum, 74, of Milford, Pa., and Tinton Falls died Nov. 12, 2011. He was born in Brooklyn and lived in Manalapan for many years before retiring to the Poconos and then recently moving to Tinton Falls.

Mr. Merbaum was a school administrator for the City of New York Board of Education at the Elias Bernstein Intermediate School, I.S.7, in Staten Island. He also built an irrigation business, Liqui-Green Irrigation, of Monmouth County.

He founded the Gold Key Sailing School in the Poconos.

He is survived by his wife, Miriam; his son, Stephen of Baltimore; three daughters, Karen Merbaum of Brooklyn; Shari Morana of Shrewsbury, Mass.; and Wendy Abrams of Tinton Falls; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Nov. 12 with arrangements by Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean.
