IDF veterans to visit Central Jersey
THE JEWISH COMMUNITY of Edison/Highland Park/New Brunswick is bringing a unit of IDF combat veterans to New Jersey through the “Peace of Mind” program Nov. 4-11. “Peace of Mind” helps combat vets’ transition to civilian life through group therapy and recreational programs in a supportive diaspora community. This program was developed in Israel after the Second Lebanon War by Metiv, the Israel Psychotrauma Center (metiv.org).
The community is invited to participate in two events. Shabbat services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, at Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva, Edison. Dinner follows at 6. Cost is $50 per person, $180 per family. Sponsorships of $250, $360, and $500 are available. RSVP to Judy Chanowitz, Judychanowitz@gmail.com.
Iris Bahr of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” performs on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 8 p.m. at Rutgers Hillel, New Brunswick. Free; dessert will be served. RSVP to Natalie at naloyets@yahoo.com.
