Ida Schachter
Ida Schachter, 97, of Whippany died Oct. 27, 2011. Born in Winsted, Conn., she lived in Connecticut, New York City, Millburn, and Livingston before moving to Whippany two years ago.
Mrs. Schachter was an active member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Millburn, serving as archivist, historian, librarian, and editor and producer of the synagogue bulletin. A former Israel Bonds chairwoman, she was a board member of the Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation, Teaneck, and also was active with various civic organizations.
Predeceased by her husband, Max, she is survived by her son, Robert of Livingston; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Oct. 28 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth Gottscho Kidney Foundation, 515 Warwick Ave., Teaneck, NJ 07666.
