Hyman Brown

Hyman Brown, 89, of Linden died Feb. 9, 2011. Born in Canada, he lived in Linden for 60 years.

Mr. Brown was the owner and operator of the Sandford Equipment Co., a commercial laundry equipment distributor in Newark for many years, retiring in the 1980s.

An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theatre.

A master mason, he was a member of Lodge 229 of the Free and Accepted Masons of Linden, the VFW, Jewish War Veterans, and the American Legion Post 0102 of Linden.

Predeceased by his wife, Mollie (Zall), and his son Robert, he is survived by his son Lawrence of Linden; his daughter, Sharon Smith of South Carolina; a brother, Michael Brown of Mendham; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 13 with arrangements by Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
