Herman Brav
Herman Louis Brav, 96, of Somerset died June 28, 2019. He lived on Long Island before moving to Somerset in 2014.
For almost 60 years, Mr. Brav worked as a hollow metal door salesperson in the New York area large construction trade, employed full-time until he was 85 years old.
A member of the Fighting 69th Infantry, he saw 16 months of heavy combat from Normandy through France and Germany as well as the Elbe River meeting with the Russians that signified the end of World War II in Europe, earning a Bronze Star and French Legion of Honor for the liberation of France. He returned to the United States in 1946.
He was an active member of Temple Hillel in North Woodmere, N.Y.
Predeceased four years ago by his wife of almost 65 years, Adele, he is survived by his son, Peter (Janet) of Princeton; his daughter, Miriam of Chicago; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
