Herbert Baum

Herbert F. Baum, 85, of Monroe Township died March 2, 2013. Born in Irvington, he resided in Maplewood for many years before moving to Monroe in 1998.

Prior to retiring in 1998, Mr. Baum was the owner of Baron-Udin Lumber Company in Newark.

He was a graduate of New York University School of Business in 1949.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1945 to 1946.

He was also a longtime Mason and past Master of the Azure-Masada Lodge No. 22 F&AM New Jersey. He was a congregant of Temple Beth Israel in Irvington for many years and was later affiliated with Beit Shalom in Monroe.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Greta Udin Baum; two daughters, Laura (Jerry) Tepper of Hillsborough, and Ruth (Charlie) Burkhardt of Schenectady, NY; her son, Michael (Aimee) of Robbinsville; and five grandchildren.

Services were held March 5 with arrangements by Mount Sinai Memorial Chapels, East Brunswick.
