Henry Hersh
Henry Hersh, 101, of Ewing died June 17, 2016. Born in Brooklyn and raised in Worcester, Mass., he was a long-time resident of Lawrenceville and Long Beach Island.
Mr. Hersh worked as a salesman and maintained a successful career until his retirement from Norman’s Stationery.
He played baseball and basketball in high school and led his football team as captain. He was also class president and valedictorian. He taught athletic skills to many children.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Brazil, Italy, and North Africa during World War II, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant.
Predeceased by his daughter, Linda, he is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marjorie; his son, Stephen (Margie); and several generations of nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 21 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to Greenwood House, Ewing.
