Helga Rose Franklin

Helga Rose Franklin (Kaufer), 90, of North Caldwell died Aug. 31, 2015. She was born and raised in Newark and lived in the Caldwells for many years. 

She graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark. 

In the Caldwells, she was active at Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell, where she was a sisterhood treasurer and started and ran the congregation blood bank for many years. She was also a dispatcher for the West Essex First Aid Squad, and was active with various scouting groups. 

She and her husband enjoyed years of boating, and after retiring in 1985, spent winters on their boat in Florida. 

Predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Ed, she is survived by her son, Arthur (Donna); her daughter, Carol (Manny) Morman; a sister, Madalyn Zager; a brother, Irwin Kaufer; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 

Services were held Sept. 2 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Senior Center of Congregation Agudath Israel or West Essex First Aid Squad, West Caldwell.
