Harriet White

Harriet Dina Krause White, 93, of Monroe Township died June 18, 2016. She was born in Brooklyn and lived in many places around the country. 

Mrs. White was employed as a bookkeeper. 

She graduated from New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn. 

She helped create a cooperative nursery school while living in Merrick, NY; became a Democratic Councilwoman; returned to college at age 60 to complete a BA degree in women’s studies and art; had a book of poetry published; and had a one-artist exhibit at a local library. Her specialty was creating collages. 

She was a 27-year cancer survivor. 

Predeceased her husband of 71 years, Maurie, she is survived by two daughters, Nina (Alan) Wolff and Emily (Terry) Donahue; two sons, Richard (Harmonia) and Robert (Helene); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held June 20 with arrangements by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing. Memorial contributions may be made to a cancer or Alzheimer’s disease-related charity.
