Harriet Fischbein

Harriet Fischbein, 84, of Union died Oct. 2, 2012. Born in Newark, she lived in New York City, Brooklyn, Irvington, South Carolina, Newark for 18 years, Hillside for 21 years, and in Springfield for 24 years before moving to Union in 2007.

Mrs. Fischbein worked as a medical secretary at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for over 35 years, retiring in 1995.

She held a BA from Brooklyn College.

She was an active member of the Charity Council for Cerebral Palsy in Belleville for over 25 years, serving as president and in other positions. She was also a member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael of Springfield.

She is survived by her son, Stephen, and two daughters, Susan Stein and Gina Fischbein, all of Springfield; a brother, Donald Gold of Long Island and Boynton Beach, Fla.; a sister, Pearl Lipson of Queens; and five grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 3 with arrangements by Ross’ Shalom Chapels, Springfield.
