Harriet Eisenberg

Harriet Eisenberg (Hirsh), 87, of Verona died Dec. 17, 2010. She was a native of Newark.

Mrs. Eisenberg opened her first gift shop, Harriet Eisenberg Gifts, in South Orange in 1958. The shop moved to Essex Green Shopping Center, West Orange, in 1969. After 25 successful years the store moved to Livingston until it closed in 2004.

She graduated from Weequahic High School, Newark, in 1940 and was an active member of the reunion committee.

She was a member of Congregation Beth El in South Orange for over 50 years.

Predeceased by her husband, Herman N., in 1972, she is survived by her son, Lawrence; her daughter, Mindy Vicari Philip; her sister, Abby Cassell; six grandchildren; and her aide, Barbara Taylor.

Services were held Dec. 19 with arrangements by J.L. Apter Memorial Chapels of Cedar Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation.
