Harriet Alpert

Harriet Lesnik Alpert, 90, of New York City died Oct. 25, 2012. Born in Newark, she lived there for many years before moving to Short Hills.

Mrs. Alpert was a member of Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, a volunteer at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, a former member of Congregation B’nai Israel in Millburn, and a member of Temple Shaaray Tefila, New York City.

Predeceased by her husbands, Milton Lesnik and Dr. Herman Alpert, she is survived by two daughters, Margery Karp and Cheryl Sofer; two sons, Peter Lesnik and Jeffrey Alpert; a sister, Rita Weinstein; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Oct. 26 with arrangements by Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel, Livingston. Memorial contributions may be made to Temple B’nai Jeshurun, Short Hills.
