Harold Wolf
Harold Wolf, 93, of West Caldwell died Dec. 23, 2017. Born in Freiburg, Germany, he moved to Stuttgart, Germany, as a child. He escaped Nazi Germany with his mother Alice in 1939 and immigrated to New York City. He later lived in Hicksville and Staten Island, N.Y., and Cherry Hill and Monroe Township, before moving to West Caldwell three years ago.
Mr. Wolf worked in the shoe industry and later worked as a financial adviser for First Investors.
He was drafted in 1943 and served in World War II in the China-Burma-India Theater assigned to an engineering unit constructing gas pipelines.
He volunteered with many organizations, including Deborah Hospital, Meals on Wheels, SCORE, and the Red Cross. He was a member of Congregation Etz Chaim in Monroe Township.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Erna; his son, Jeffrey (Karen); his daughter, Carol (Marc) Berman; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were held Dec. 26 with arrangements by Jewish Memorial Chapel, Clifton. Memorial contributions may be made to Deborah Hospital, Browns Mills, or Jewish Family Service of MetroWest (Care Consultation Program).
